Motioning to them with his hand  to be silent, he described to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. ‘Tell these things to James  and the brothers,’ he said, and he left and went to another place.

After he had given permission, Paul stood on the steps and motioned with his hand to the people. When there was a great hush, he addressed them in Aramaic:  ,


Some Jews in the crowd gave instructions to Alexander  after they pushed him to the front. Motioning with his hand, Alexander wanted to make his defence to the people.


Paul stood up and motioned with his hand and said, ‘Fellow Israelites, and you who fear God, listen!


The following day Paul went in with us to James, and all the elders were present.


After they stopped speaking, James responded, ‘Brothers, listen to me.


For he usually ate with the Gentiles before certain men came from James. However, when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, because he feared those from the circumcision party.


When James,  Cephas,  , and John   #– #those recognised as pillars   #– #acknowledged the grace that had been given to me, they gave the right hand of fellowship to me and Barnabas, agreeing that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.


But I didn’t see any of the other apostles except James,  the Lord’s brother.


Then he appeared to James,  then to all the apostles.


Jesus therefore no longer walked openly  among the Jews but departed from there to the countryside near the wilderness,  to a town called Ephraim, and he stayed there with the disciples.


So they picked up stones  to throw at him.  But Jesus was hidden  , and went out of the temple.  ,


When they persecute you in one town, flee to another.   For truly I tell you, you will not have gone through the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.


James,  a servant of God  and of the Lord Jesus Christ: To the twelve tribes  dispersed abroad.  , Greetings.


After leaving the jail, they came to Lydia’s house, where they saw and encouraged the brothers and sisters, and departed.


Simon Peter motioned to him to find out who it was he was talking about.


So he departed again across the Jordan  to the place where John  had been baptising earlier, and he remained there.


After this, Jesus travelled in Galilee,  since he did not want to travel in Judea  because the Jews  were trying to kill him.


When he did come out, he could not speak to them. Then they realised that he had seen a vision in the sanctuary. He was making signs to them  and remained speechless.


Isn’t this the carpenter,  the son of Mary,  and the brother of James,  Joses, Judas,  and Simon? And aren’t his sisters here with us? ’ So they were offended  by him.


In those days Peter stood up among the brothers and sisters   #– #the number of people who were together was about a hundred twenty #– #and said,


Peter, however, kept on knocking, and when they opened the door and saw him, they were amazed.


At daylight, there was a great commotion among the soldiers as to what had become of Peter.


Now the brothers and sisters from there had heard the news about us and had come to meet us as far as the Forum of Appius and the Three Taverns. When Paul saw them, he thanked God and took courage.
