For they heard them speaking in tongues and declaring the greatness of God. Then Peter responded,

And when Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began to speak in tongues and to prophesy.

Then they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them.
