Woe to them! For they have gone the way of Cain,  have plunged into Balaam’s error  for profit, and have perished in Korah’s rebellion.


Instead, just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted  with the gospel,  so we speak, not to please people, but rather God,  who examines our hearts.

Also offer the burnt offering of all the people of the land, their grain offering, and their drink offerings. Splatter on the altar all the blood of the burnt offering and all the blood of sacrifice. The bronze altar will be for me to seek guidance.’


Then King Ahaz cut off the frames of the water carts  , and removed the bronze basin from each of them. He took the basin  , from the bronze oxen that were under it and put it on a stone pavement.


He built altars in the Lord’s temple,  where the Lord had said, ‘Jerusalem is where I will put my name.’


He built altars  in the Lord’s temple, where the Lord had said, ‘Jerusalem is where my name will remain for ever.’


I have appointed  trustworthy witnesses #– #the priest Uriah and Zechariah son of Jeberechiah.’


For the lips of a priest should guard knowledge, and people should desire instruction from his mouth, because he is the messenger of the Lord of Armies.
