In the thirty-seventh year of Judah’s King Joash, Jehoash son of Jehoahaz became king over Israel in Samaria, and he reigned for sixteen years.

Jehoahaz rested with his ancestors, and he was buried in Samaria. His son Jehoash  became king in his place.


He did what was evil in the Lord’s sight. He did not turn away from all the sins that Jeroboam son of Nebat had caused Israel to commit, but he continued them.


In  the second year of Israel’s King Jehoash  , son of Jehoahaz,  Amaziah  son of Joash became king of Judah.


Nevertheless, the Lord said to Jehu, ‘Because you have done well in carrying out what is right in my sight and have done to the house of Ahab all that was in my heart, four generations of your sons will sit on the throne of Israel.’


In the seventh year of Jehu, Joash became king, and he reigned for forty years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Zibiah; she was from Beer-sheba.


In the twenty-third year of Judah’s King Joash  son of Ahaziah, Jehoahaz  son of Jehu became king over Israel in Samaria, and he reigned for seventeen years.


Judah’s King Amaziah son of Joash lived fifteen years after the death of Israel’s King Jehoash son of Jehoahaz.


The word of the Lord that he spoke to Jehu was, ‘Four generations of your sons will sit on the throne of Israel,’  and it was so.
