Then the Lord said to him: Name him Jezreel,  , for in a little while I will bring the bloodshed of Jezreel on the house of Jehu and put an end to the kingdom of the house of Israel.


So now, residents of Jerusalem and men of Judah, please judge between me and my vineyard.


Here I am. Bring charges against me before the Lord and his anointed: Whose ox or donkey have I taken?  Who have I wronged or mistreated? Who gave me a bribe to overlook something?  , I will return it to you.’


Then Jehu wrote them a second letter, saying: If you are on my side, and if you will obey me, bring me the heads of your master’s sons  at this time tomorrow at Jezreel. All seventy of the king’s sons were being cared for by the city’s prominent men.


When the messenger came and told him, ‘They have brought the heads of the king’s sons,’ the king said, ‘Pile them in two heaps at the entrance of the city gate until morning.’


It was his servants Jozabad  son of Shimeath and Jehozabad son of Shomer who attacked him. He died  and they buried him with his ancestors in the city of David, and his son Amaziah became king in his place.
