Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help and who depend on horses! They trust in the abundance of chariots and in the large number of horsemen. They do not look to the Holy One of Israel, and they do not seek the Lord.
Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen. He stationed them in the chariot cities and with the king in Jerusalem.
A chariot could be imported from Egypt for seven kilograms of silver and a horse for nearly two kilograms. In the same way, they exported them to all the kings of the Hittites and to the kings of Aram through their agents.
