The common people killed all who had conspired against King Amon, and they made his son Josiah king in his place.
Then the common people took Jehoahaz son of Josiah and made him king in Jerusalem in place of his father.
Josiah was eight years old when he became king, and he reigned for thirty-one years in Jerusalem.
All the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in place of his father Amaziah.
‘Do not defile the land where you live, for bloodshed defiles the land, and there can be no atonement for the land because of the blood that is shed on it, except by the blood of the person who shed it.
You are not to accept a ransom for the life of someone who is guilty of murder; he must be put to death.
So his servants conspired against him and put him to death in his own house.
