Then Jehu son of the seer Hanani went out to confront him and said to King Jehoshaphat, ‘Do you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord? Because of this, the Lord’s wrath is on you.
Look, God and his priests are with us at our head. The trumpets are ready to sound the charge against you. Israelites, don’t fight against the Lord God of your ancestors, for you will not succeed.’
So the king sought advice. Then he made two golden calves, and he said to the people, ‘Going to Jerusalem is too difficult for you. Israel, here are your gods who brought you up from the land of Egypt.’
