So the king said to Hazael,  ‘Take a gift  with you and go and meet the man of God. Enquire of the Lord through him, “Will I recover from this sickness? ” ’


Take with you ten loaves of bread, some cakes, and a jar of honey,  and go to him. He will tell you what will happen to the boy.’


A man from Baal-shalishah  came to the man of God with his sack full of  twenty loaves of barley bread from the first bread of the harvest. Elisha said, ‘Give it to the people to eat.’


Then Naaman and his whole company went back to the man of God, stood before him, and declared, ‘I know there’s no God in the whole world except in Israel.  Therefore, please accept a gift  from your servant.’


Therefore, the king of Aram said, ‘Go, and I will send a letter with you to the king of Israel.’ So he went and took with him 350 kilograms  of silver, 70 kilograms  of gold, and ten sets of clothing.


Please do not leave this place until I return to you. Let me bring my gift and set it before you.’ And he said, ‘I will stay until you return.’


Then the king declared to the man of God, ‘Come home with me, refresh yourself, and I’ll give you a reward.’


Hazael went to meet Elisha, taking with him a gift: forty camel-loads of all the finest products of Damascus. When he came and stood before him, he said, ‘Your son,  King Ben-hadad of Aram, has sent me to ask you, “Will I recover from this sickness? ” ’


You profane me among my people for handfuls of barley  and scraps of bread; you put those to death who should not die and spare those who should not live, when you lie to my people, who listen to lies.
