Time went by until twenty years had passed since the ark had been taken to Kiriath-jearim. Then the whole house of Israel longed for the Lord.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.


They will come weeping, but I will bring them back with consolation.  , I will lead them to wadis filled with water, by a smooth way where they will not stumble, for I am Israel’s Father, and Ephraim is my firstborn.


Only acknowledge your guilt   – you have rebelled against the  Lord your God. You have scattered your favours to strangers under every green tree and have not obeyed me. This is the  Lord’s declaration.


When the angel of the Lord had spoken these words to all the Israelites, the people wept loudly.


So the Israelites set out and reached the Gibeonite cities on the third day. Now their cities were Gibeon, Chephirah, Beeroth, and Kiriath-jearim.


So the people of Kiriath-jearim came for the ark of the Lord and took it to Abinadab’s house on the hill.  They consecrated his son Eleazar to take care of it.


Samuel told them, ‘If you  are returning to the Lord   with all your heart,  get rid of the foreign gods  and the Ashtoreths that are among you, set your hearts on the Lord, and worship only him.  Then he will rescue you from the Philistines.’


Then let’s bring back the ark of our God, for we did not enquire of him  , in Saul’s days.’


Another man was also prophesying in the name of the Lord  #– #Uriah son of Shemaiah from Kiriath-jearim.  He prophesied against this city and against this land in words like all those of Jeremiah.


So David assembled all Israel,  from the Shihor of Egypt to the entrance of Hamath,  , to bring the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim.
