By this time Samuel had died, all Israel had mourned for him and buried him in Ramah, his city, and Saul had removed the mediums and spiritists from the land.
The men went back to Moses, Aaron, and the entire Israelite community in the Wilderness of Paran at Kadesh. They brought back a report for them and the whole community, and they showed them the fruit of the land.
When the Canaanite inhabitants of the land saw the mourning at the threshing-floor of Atad, they said, ‘This is a solemn mourning on the part of the Egyptians.’ Therefore the place is named Abel-mizraim. It is across the Jordan.
The next morning Elkanah and Hannah got up early to worship before the Lord. Afterwards, they returned home to Ramah. Then Elkanah was intimate with his wife Hannah, and the Lord remembered her.
