Bless those who persecute you;  bless and do not curse.


See to it that no one repays evil for evil  to anyone,  but always pursue what is good for one another and for all.


But I tell you, love your enemies   and pray for those who   persecute you,


But Naboth said to Ahab, ‘As the Lord is my witness, I will never give my ancestors’ inheritance  to you.’


David questioned him, ‘How is it that you were not afraid to lift your hand to destroy the Lord’s anointed? ’


Here I am. Bring charges against me before the Lord and his anointed: Whose ox or donkey have I taken?  Who have I wronged or mistreated? Who gave me a bribe to overlook something?  , I will return it to you.’


With these words David persuaded  his men, and he did not let them rise up against Saul. Then Saul left the cave and went on his way.


David’s conscience troubled him  after he had taken a census of the troops. He said to the Lord, ‘I have sinned greatly in what I’ve done. Now, Lord, because I’ve been very foolish,  please take away your servant’s guilt.’
