and the men of Israel were worn out that day, for Saul had  placed the troops under an oath:  ‘The man who eats food before evening, before I have taken vengeance on my enemies is cursed.’ So none of the troops tasted any food.

At that time Joshua imposed this curse: The man who undertakes the rebuilding of this city, Jericho, is cursed before the  Lord. He will lay its foundation at the cost of his firstborn; he will finish its gates at the cost of his youngest.


I can testify about them that they have zeal for God,  but not according to knowledge.

Then Saul replied, ‘Say this to David: “The king desires no other bride-price  except a hundred Philistine foreskins, to take revenge on his enemies.” ’  Actually, Saul intended to cause David’s death at the hands of the Philistines.


Or if someone swears rashly  to do what is good or evil #– #concerning anything a person may speak rashly in an oath #– #without being aware of it, but later recognises it, he incurs guilt in such an instance.
