So the Lord sent Jerubbaal,  Barak,  , Jephthah,  and Samuel.  He rescued you from the power of the enemies around you, and you lived securely.

That day Gideon was called Jerubbaal, since Joash said, ‘Let Baal contend with him,’ because he tore down his altar.


She summoned Barak son of Abinoam from Kedesh in Naphtali and said to him, ‘Hasn’t the Lord, the God of Israel,  commanded you, “Go, deploy the troops on Mount Tabor,  and take with you ten thousand men from the Naphtalites  and Zebulunites?


The Lord turned to him and said, ‘Go in the strength you have and deliver Israel from the grasp of Midian. I am sending you! ’


So the Philistines were subdued  and  did not invade Israel’s territory again.  The Lord’s hand was against the Philistines all of Samuel’s life.


They did not show kindness  to the house of Jerubbaal (that is, Gideon) for all the good he had done for Israel.


Jerubbaal (that is, Gideon) son of Joash went back to live at his house.


But Joash said to all who stood against him, ‘Would you plead Baal’s case for him? Would you save him? Whoever pleads his case will be put to death by morning! If he is a god, let him plead his own case because someone tore down his altar.’


Jerubbaal (that is, Gideon) and all the troops who were with him, got up early and camped beside the spring of Harod. The camp of Midian was north of them, below the hill of Moreh, in the valley.


All Israel from Dan to Beer-sheba knew that Samuel was a confirmed prophet of the Lord.


Therefore, the Lord gave Israel a deliverer,  and they escaped from the power of the Arameans. Then the people of Israel returned to their former way of life,
