Then King Solomon dispatched Benaiah son of Jehoiada,  who struck down Adonijah, and he died.

Benaiah son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David’s sons were chief officials.


Then the king commanded Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and he went out and struck Shimei down, and he died. So the kingdom was established in Solomon’s hand.


Benaiah son of Jehoiada  went up, struck down Joab, and put him to death. He was buried at his house in the wilderness.


The king said to him, ‘Do just as he says. Strike him down and bury him in order to remove from me and from my father’s family the blood that Joab shed without just cause.


So David gave orders to the young men, and they killed Rechab and Baanah. They cut off their hands and feet and hung their bodies by the pool in Hebron, but they took Ish-bosheth’s head and buried it in Abner’s tomb in Hebron.


Then David summoned one of his servants and said, ‘Come here and kill him! ’ The servant struck him, and he died.


Samuel declared: As your sword has made women childless, so your mother will be childless among women. Then he hacked Agag to pieces before the Lord at Gilgal.


Now therefore, the sword will never leave your house  because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah the Hethite to be your own wife.”


It was reported to King Solomon, ‘Joab has fled to the Lord’s tabernacle and is now beside the altar.’ Then Solomon sent  Benaiah son of Jehoiada  and told him, ‘Go and strike him down! ’


They said to him, ‘We’ve come to tie you up and hand you over to the Philistines.’ Then Samson told them, ‘Swear to me that you yourselves won’t kill me.’
