He is the one who will build a house for my name. He will be my son, and I will be his father. I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.”


Solomon sat on the Lord’s throne as king in place of his father David. He prospered, and all Israel obeyed him.


Now, Lord, let the word that you have spoken concerning your servant and his house be confirmed for ever, and do as you have promised.


This was a little thing to you,  God, for you have spoken about your servant’s house in the distant future. You regard me as a man of distinction,  Lord God.


ever since the day I ordered judges to be over my people Israel. I will also subdue all your enemies. ‘ “Furthermore, I declare to you that the Lord himself will build a house for you.


Blessed be the Lord your God! He delighted in you and put you on the throne of Israel,  because of the Lord’s eternal love for Israel.  He has made you king to carry out justice and righteousness.’


Then Solomon said, ‘If he is a man of character, not a single hair of his will fall to the ground,  but if evil is found in him, he dies.’


The king swore an oath and said, ‘As the Lord lives, who has redeemed my life from every difficulty,


since you, Lord of Armies, God of Israel, have revealed this to your servant when you said, ‘I will build a house for you.’ Therefore, your servant has found the courage to pray this prayer to you.


Please forgive your servant’s offence,  for the Lord is certain to make a lasting dynasty for my lord  because he fights the Lord’s battles.  Throughout your life, may evil  not be found in you.


Since the midwives feared God, he gave them families.


Now therefore, the sword will never leave your house  because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah the Hethite to be your own wife.”


Solomon has even taken his seat on the royal throne.


A king’s terrible wrath is like the roaring of a lion; anyone who provokes him endangers himself.
