Israel, I, the LORD All-Powerful, was very angry with your ancestors. But if you people will return to me, I will turn and help you.

I noticed how sad you were when you read that this country and its people would be completely wiped out. You even tore your clothes in sorrow, and I heard you cry.

But the LORD was still furious with the people of Judah because Manasseh had done so many things to make him angry.

You punished us because of our terrible sins. But you did not punish us nearly as much as we deserve, and you have brought some of us back home.

You, God, are angry with us! We are rejected and crushed. Make us strong again!

But when our ancestors took over the land, they did not obey you. And now you have punished Israel with disaster.

Finally, my anger struck like a raging flood, and today Jerusalem and the towns of Judah are nothing but empty ruins.

Our ancestors sinned, but they are dead, and we are left to pay for their sins.

So in my fierce anger, I will punish the Israelites for what they have done, and they will know that I am furious. I, the LORD, have spoken.

So in my fierce anger, I will punish them without mercy and refuse to help them when they cry out to me.”

For a while I was angry with the nations, but now I am furious, because they have made things worse for Jerusalem and are not the least bit concerned.

When your ancestors made me angry, I decided to punish you with disasters, and I didn't hold back.

Is there one prophet that your ancestors didn't ill-treat? They killed the prophets who told about the coming of the One Who Obeys God. And now you have turned against him and killed him.
