God's children cannot keep on being sinful. His life-giving power lives in them and makes them his children, so that they cannot keep on sinning.

You died, which means that your life is hidden with Christ, who sits beside God.

That is how it is with you, my friends. You are now part of the body of Christ and are dead to the power of the Law. You are free to belong to Christ, who was raised to life so that we could serve God.

Christ carried the burden of our sins. He was nailed to the cross, so that we would stop sinning and start living right. By his cuts and bruises you are healed.

It was the Law itself that killed me and freed me from its power, so that I could live for God. I have been nailed to the cross with Christ.

But the Law no longer rules over us. We are like dead people, and it cannot have any power over us. Now we can serve God in a new way by obeying his Spirit, and not in the old way by obeying the written Law.

Behave like obedient children. Don't let your lives be controlled by your desires, as they used to be.

You died with Christ. Now the forces of the universe don't have any power over you. Why do you live as if you had to obey such rules as,

But I will never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of his cross, the world is dead as far as I am concerned, and I am dead as far as the world is concerned.

They give me understanding and make me hate all lies.

And in addition to everything else, we are happy because God sent our Lord Jesus Christ to make peace with us.

No one in my master's house is more important than I am. The only thing he hasn't given me is you, and that's because you are his wife. I won't sin against God by doing such a terrible thing as this.”

I'll tell you what. He will come and kill those tenants and let someone else have his vineyard.” When the people heard this, they said, “This must never happen!”

What does all this mean? Does it mean we are free to sin, because we are ruled by God's wonderful kindness and not by the Law? Certainly not!
