Do you really think God won't punish you, when you behave exactly like the people you accuse?

But Hanun's officials told him, “Do you really believe David is honouring your father by sending these people to comfort you? He probably sent them to spy on our city, so he can destroy it.”

Job, are you really innocent in the sight of God?

When you did all this, I didn't say a word, and you thought, “God is just like us!” But now I will accuse you.

They won't get away with these crimes, God, because when you get angry, you destroy people.

You can be sure of this: all crooks will be punished, but God's people won't.

The LORD doesn't like anyone who is conceited— you can be sure they will be punished.

But this new king of Judah later rebelled against Babylonia and sent officials to Egypt to get horses and troops. Will this king be successful in breaking the treaty with Babylonia? Or will he be punished for what he's done?

The king of Judah broke his own promises and ignored the treaty with Babylonia. And so he will be punished!

You are nothing but snakes and the children of snakes! How can you escape going to hell?

Don't you know that I could ask my Father, and straight away he would send me more than twelve armies of angels?

Jesus answered, “Who gave me the right to settle arguments between you and your brother?”

A little later someone else saw Peter and said, “You are one of them!” “No, I'm not!” Peter replied.

Peter replied, “I don't know what you are talking about!” At once, while Peter was still speaking, a cock crowed.

They know God has said that anyone who acts this way deserves to die. But they keep on doing evil things, and they even encourage others to do them.

Some of you accuse others of doing wrong. But there is no excuse for what you do. When you judge others, you condemn yourselves, because you are guilty of doing the very same things.

We know that God is right to judge everyone who behaves in this way.

But, my friend, I ask, “Who do you think you are to question God? Does the clay have the right to ask the potter why he shaped it the way he did?

People will think they are safe and secure. But destruction will suddenly strike them like the pains of a woman about to give birth. And they won't escape.

Make sure that you obey the one who speaks to you. The people did not escape, when they refused to obey the one who spoke to them at Mount Sinai. Do you think you can possibly escape, if you refuse to obey the one who speaks to you from heaven?

So if we refuse this great way of being saved, how can we hope to escape? The Lord himself was the first to tell about it, and people who heard the message proved to us that it was true.
