I realize how kind God has been to me, and so I tell each of you not to think you are better than you really are. Use good sense and measure yourself by the amount of faith that God has given you.

Don't eat too much honey or always want praise.

There is more hope for a fool than for someone who says, “I'm really clever!”

But God was kind! He made me what I am, and his wonderful kindness wasn't wasted. I worked much harder than any of the other apostles, although it was really God's kindness at work and not me.

God was kind and let me become an expert builder. I laid a foundation on which others have built. But we must each be careful how we build,

In every church I tell the people to stay as they were when the Lord Jesus chose them and God called them to be his own. Now I say the same thing to you.

We won't boast about something we don't have a right to boast about. We will only boast about the work that God has sent us to do, and you are part of that work.

You missed out on only one blessing that the other churches received. That is, you didn't have to support me. Forgive me for doing you wrong.

If you think you are better than others, when you really aren't, you are wrong.

You have heard about God's kindness in choosing me to help you.

He taught us to give up our wicked ways and our worldly desires and to live decent and honest lives in this world.

Tell the older men to have self-control and to be serious and sensible. Their faith, love, and patience must never fail.

so the younger women will be loving wives and mothers.

Tell the young men to have self-control in everything.

In fact, God treats us with even greater kindness, just as the Scriptures say, “God opposes everyone who is proud, but he is kind to everyone who is humble.”

Be alert and think straight. Put all your hope in how kind God will be to you when Jesus Christ appears.

If you have the gift of speaking, preach God's message. If you have the gift of helping others, do it with the strength that God supplies. Everything should be done in a way that will bring honour to God because of Jesus Christ, who is glorious and powerful for ever. Amen.

Everything will soon come to an end. So be serious and be sensible enough to pray.

All you young people should obey your elders. In fact, everyone should be humble towards everyone else. The Scriptures say, “God opposes proud people, but he helps everyone who is humble.”

Be on your guard and stay awake. Your enemy, the devil, is like a roaring lion, prowling around to find someone to attack.
