The Scriptures also say, “If your enemies are hungry, give them something to eat. And if they are thirsty, give them something to drink. This will be the same as piling burning coals on their heads.”

Joseph gave orders for his brothers' grain sacks to be filled with grain and for their money to be put in their sacks. He also gave orders for them to be given food for their journey home. After this was done,

“No!” Elisha answered. “You didn't capture these troops in battle, so you have no right to kill them. Instead, give them something to eat and drink and let them return to their leader.”

Your reward should be sharp and flaming arrows!

Tip flaming coals on them and throw them into pits where they can't climb out.

But I tell you to love your enemies and pray for anyone who ill-treats you.

This is what I say to all who will listen to me: Love your enemies, and be good to everyone who hates you.

Don't let evil defeat you, but defeat evil with good.

“David, you had the chance to kill me today. But you didn't. I was very wrong about you. It was a terrible mistake for me to try to kill you. I've acted like a fool, but I'll never try to harm you again. You're like a son to me, so please come back.”
