Psalm 98:2

The LORD has shown the nations that he has the power to save and to bring justice.

People not yet born will be told, “The Lord has saved us!”

The LORD God, who saves them, will bless and reward them,

I will soon come to save you. I am not far away and will waste no time; I take pride in Israel and will save Jerusalem.

Now the LORD says to me, “It isn't enough for you to be merely my servant. You must do more than lead back survivors from the tribes of Israel. I have placed you here as a light for other nations; you must take my saving power to everyone on earth.”

The LORD has shown all nations his mighty strength; now everyone will see the saving power of our God.

What a beautiful sight! On the mountains a messenger announces to Jerusalem, “Good news! You're saved. There will be peace. Your God is now King.”

Your great victory will be seen by every nation and king; the LORD will even give you a new name.

As long as he is king, Israel will have peace, and Judah will be safe. The name of this king will be “The LORD Gives Justice”.

Go to the people of all nations and make them my disciples. Baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,

Then he told them: Go and preach the good news to everyone in the world.

Then everyone will see the saving power of God.’ ”

The good news tells how God accepts everyone who has faith, but only those who have faith. It is just as the Scriptures say, “The people God accepts because of their faith will live.”

But am I saying that the people of Israel did not hear? No, I am not! The Scriptures say, “The message was told everywhere on earth. It was announced all over the world.”

What does all this mean? It means that the Gentiles were not trying to be acceptable to God, but they found that he would accept them if they had faith.

Christ never sinned! But God treated him as a sinner, so that Christ could make us acceptable to God.

and to know that I belong to him. I could not make myself acceptable to God by obeying the Law of Moses. God accepted me simply because of my faith in Christ.

We are filled with hope, as we wait for the glorious return of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ.
