When God does nothing, can any person or nation find fault with him?

Why should I be afraid in times of trouble, when I am surrounded by vicious enemies?

But what about those people who are cruel and brutal? You will throw them down into the deepest pit long before their time. I trust you, LORD!

Our LORD, the nations fell into their own pits, and their feet were caught in their own traps.

I tried to help them, but they are paying me back by digging a pit to trap me. I even begged you not to punish them.

These people have dug pits and set traps for me, LORD. Make them scream in fear when you send enemy troops to attack their homes.

When I heard this message, I felt weak from fear, and my lips quivered. My bones seemed to melt, and I stumbled around. But I will patiently wait. Some day those vicious enemies will be struck by disaster.

But God has promised us a Sabbath when we will rest, even though it has not yet come.

This shows that the Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their sufferings and to punish evil people while they wait for the day of judgment.

When the nations got angry, you became angry too! Now the time has come for the dead to be judged. It is time for you to reward your servants the prophets and all your people who honour your name, no matter who they are. It is time to destroy everyone who has destroyed the earth.”

Then I heard a voice from heaven say, “Put this in writing. From now on, the Lord will bless everyone who has faith in him when they die.” The Spirit answered, “Yes, they will rest from their hard work, and they will be rewarded for what they have done.”
