Sennacherib, now listen to me, the Lord. I planned all this long ago. And you don't even realize that I alone am the one who decided that you would do these things. I let you make ruins of fortified cities.

They are gone and forgotten,

But God despises evil people, and he will wipe them all from the earth, till they are forgotten.

Those enemies are now dead and can never live again. You have punished them— they are destroyed, completely forgotten.

You destroyed the nations and seem strong as a mountain, but I am your enemy. I might even grab you and roll you off a cliff. When I have finished, you'll only be a pile of scorched bricks.

You, my enemies, said, “The LORD God is helpless.” Now each of you will be disgraced and put to shame. I will see you trampled like mud in the street.

My enemies, don't be glad because of my troubles! I may have fallen, but I will get up; I may be sitting in the dark, but the LORD is my light.
