God has me trapped with a wall of darkness

They are hateful and keep their distance, even while spitting in my direction.

Even if you look, you won't see anyone who cares enough to walk beside me. There is no place to hide, and no one who really cares.

I have given up all hope, and I feel numb all over.

My enemies insult me. Neighbours are even worse, and I disgust my friends. People meet me in the street, and they turn and run.

Every day, you are kind, and at night you give me a song as my prayer to you, the living LORD God.

My friends and neighbours have turned against me because of you, and now darkness is my only companion.

Israel, I am the holy LORD God, the one who rescues you. You are slaves of rulers and of a nation who despises you. Now this is what I promise: kings and rulers will honour you by kneeling at your feet. You can trust me! I am your LORD, the holy God of Israel, and you are my chosen ones.
