There were so many people living in Judah and Israel while Solomon was king that they seemed like grains of sand on a beach. Everyone had enough to eat and drink, and they were happy.

You plant them like trees; you let them prosper and produce fruit. Yet even when they praise you, they don't mean it.

You were a choice grapevine, but now you produce nothing but small, rotten grapes.

Your enemies ran from you, but not because you had swords and bows and arrows. I made your enemies panic and run away, as I had done with the two Amorite kings east of the River Jordan.
