You hold in your hand a cup filled with wine, strong and foaming. You will pour out some for every sinful person on this earth, and they will have to drink until it is gone.

God will bring his people back, and they will drink the water he so freely gives.

Our LORD, you are the one who makes us rich or poor. You put some in high positions and bring disgrace on others.

But you must drink every drop! Then smash the cup to pieces and use them to cut your breasts in sorrow. I, the LORD God, have spoken.
