I wish I had been born dead and then buried, never to see the light of day.

Proud and brutal people hunt down the poor. But let them get caught by their own evil plans!

They are always successful, though they can't understand your teachings, and they keep sneering at their enemies.

They swarmed around like bees, but by the power of the LORD, I got rid of them and their fiery sting.

But what about those people who are cruel and brutal? You will throw them down into the deepest pit long before their time. I trust you, LORD!

or when trouble and distress surround you like a whirlwind, I will laugh and make fun of you.

Those crooks will disappear when a storm strikes, but God will keep safe all who obey him.

In times of trouble the wicked are destroyed, but even at death the innocent have faith.

Foolish laughter is stupid. It sounds like thorns crackling in a fire.

But even if they roar like a fearsome flood, God will give the command to turn them back. They will be like dust, or like straw blowing across the hills in a storm.

They are like flowers freshly sprung up and starting to grow. But when God blows on them, they wilt and are carried off like straw in a storm.

They are evil! So in my anger I will strike them like a violent storm.

But suppose the LORD does something that has never been done before. For example, what if a huge crack appears in the ground, and these men and their families fall into it and are buried alive, together with everything they own? Then you will know they have turned their backs on the LORD!”
