When criminals attacked, I broke their teeth and set their victims free.

Who would try to open its jaws, full of fearsome teeth?

Now break the arms of all merciless people. Punish them for doing wrong and make them stop.

They are like hungry lions hunting for food, or like young lions hiding in ambush.

Come and save me, LORD God! Break my enemies' jaws and shatter their teeth,

You will overpower the strongest lions and the most deadly snakes.

The power to charm a snake does you no good if it bites you anyway.

The LORD All-Powerful said to me, “I will roar and attack like a fearless lion not frightened by the shouts of shepherds trying to protect their sheep. That's how I will come down and fight on Mount Zion.

“Watch out!” the LORD says. “I'm sending poisonous snakes to attack you, and no one can stop them.”

So I'll become a fierce lion attacking Israel and Judah. I'll snatch and carry off what I want, and no one can stop me.

At present they are scattered, but later they will attack, as though they were fierce lions pouncing on sheep. Their enemies will be torn to shreds, with no one to save them;

They are like angry lions ready to attack; and they won't rest until their victim is gobbled up.”
