Because of your great mercy, I come to your house, LORD, and I am filled with wonder as I bow down to worship at your holy temple.

Suppose your people sin against you, and you punish them by holding back the rain. If they turn towards this temple and pray in your name and stop sinning,

Listen when anyone in Israel truly feels sorry and sincerely prays with arms lifted towards your temple.

No one who cheats or lies will have a position in my royal court.

But you forgive us, and so we will worship you.

Then we said, “Let's go to the throne of the LORD and worship at his feet.”

I worship at your holy temple and praise you for your love and your faithfulness. You were true to your word and made yourself more famous than ever before.

Please listen to my prayer and my cry for help, as I lift my hands towards your holy temple.

When his people pray for help, he listens and rescues them from their troubles.

You are kind, God! Please have pity on me. You are always merciful! Please wipe away my sins.

But I am like an olive tree growing in God's house, and I can count on his love for ever and ever.

I ask for your help, LORD God, and you will keep me safe.

But I pray to you, LORD. So when the time is right, answer me and help me with your wonderful love.

Answer me, LORD! You are kind and good. Pay attention to me! You are truly merciful.

There are six or seven kinds of people the LORD doesn't like:

Those who are too proud or tell lies or murder,

Give up your crooked ways and your evil thoughts. Return to the LORD our God. He will be merciful and forgive your sins.

Zion's glorious and holy temple where our ancestors praised you has been destroyed by fire. Our beautiful buildings are now a pile of ruins.

Daniel heard about the law, but when he returned home, he went upstairs and prayed in front of the window that faced Jerusalem. In the same way that he had always done, he knelt down in prayer three times a day, giving thanks to God.

But later, Israel will turn back to the LORD their God and to David their king. At that time they will come to the LORD with fear and trembling, and he will be good to them.

The church in Judea, Galilee, and Samaria now had a time of peace and kept on worshipping the Lord. The church became stronger, as the Holy Spirit encouraged it and helped it grow.

So whenever we are in need, we should come bravely before the throne of our merciful God. There we will be treated with undeserved kindness, and we will find help.

But if you don't want to worship the LORD, then choose now! Will you worship the same idols your ancestors did? Or since you're living on land that once belonged to the Amorites, perhaps you'll worship their gods. I won't. My family and I are going to worship and obey the LORD!
