and started boasting about his great wealth and all his sons. He told them the many ways that the king had honoured him and how all the other officials and leaders had to respect him.

Bad news won't bother them; they have decided to trust the LORD.

They are dependable and not afraid, and they will live to see their enemies defeated.

“Just look at them now! Instead of trusting God, they trusted their wealth and their cruelty.”

Enemies spend the whole day finding fault with me; all they think about is how to do me harm.

They won't get away with these crimes, God, because when you get angry, you destroy people.

Don't trust in violence or depend on dishonesty or rely on great wealth.

Great wealth can be a fortress, but poverty is no protection at all.

Trust in your wealth, and you will be a failure, but God's people will prosper like healthy plants.

Your money flies away before you know it, just like an eagle suddenly taking off.

The LORD says: Don't boast about your wisdom or strength or wealth.

You say to yourself, “I'm rich! I earned it all on my own, without committing a sin.”

The disciples were shocked to hear this. So Jesus told them again, “It's terribly hard to get into God's kingdom!

Then I'll say to myself, ‘You have stored up enough good things to last for years to come. Live it up! Eat, drink, and enjoy yourself.’ ”

Warn the rich people of this world not to be proud or to trust in wealth that is easily lost. Tell them to have faith in God, who is rich and blesses us with everything we need to enjoy life.
