They are like sheep with death as their shepherd, leading them to the grave. In the morning God's people will walk all over them, as their bodies lie rotting in their home, the grave.

When I come to bring justice, you will trample those who are evil, as though they were ashes under your feet. I, the LORD All-Powerful, have spoken!

Don't you know that God's people will judge the world? And if you are going to judge the world, can't you settle small problems?

Then God Most High, the Eternal God, came and judged in favour of his chosen ones, because the time had arrived for them to be given the kingdom.

Soon he will send me home to the world of the dead, where we all must go.

It is exactly as the Scriptures say, “For you we face death all day long. We are like sheep on their way to be butchered.”

You will eat and drink with me in my kingdom, and you will each sit on a throne to judge the twelve tribes of Israel.

But God Most High will give his kingdom to his chosen ones, and it will be theirs for ever and ever.”

You punish us severely because of our sins. Like a moth, you destroy what we treasure most. We are as frail as a breath.

Your anger lasts a little while, but your kindness lasts for a lifetime. At night we may cry, but when morning comes we will celebrate.

Let's do our best to know the LORD. His coming is as certain as the morning sun; he will refresh us like rain renewing the earth in the springtime.

But you know, LORD, how faithful I've always been, even in my thoughts. So drag my enemies away and butcher them like sheep!

So our bodies return to the earth, and the life-giving breath returns to God.

God has put every nation under our power,

You let us be slaughtered like sheep, and you scattered us among the nations.

The wicked will go down to the world of the dead to be with those nations that forgot about you.

But we all end up dead, beneath a blanket of worms.

and they are successful, without a worry, until the day they die.

Your tent pegs are pulled up, and you leave this life, having gained no wisdom.”
