I am innocent, LORD! Won't you listen as I pray and beg for help? I am honest! Please hear my prayer.

I obey you completely and guard against sin.

I will hear the prayers made in this temple,

I am your servant, so please have mercy on me and answer the prayer that I make day and night for these people of Israel who serve you. I, my family, and the rest of your people have sinned

though I am not violent, and my prayers are sincere.

Don't hide from me in my time of trouble. Pay attention to my prayer and quickly give an answer.

Our LORD, I know that you defend the homeless and see that the poor are given justice.

I pray to you, LORD. I beg for mercy.

and you are near to everyone whose prayers are sincere.

Show that I am right, God! Defend me against everyone who doesn't know you; rescue me from each of those deceitful liars.

You are my King and my God. Answer my cry for help because I pray to you.

You will help me, Lord God, and keep me from falling;

I am attacked from all sides, but you will rescue me unharmed by the battle.

Please listen, God, and answer my prayer!

I feel hopeless, and I cry out to you from a faraway land. Lead me to the mighty rock high above me.

But God did listen and answered my prayer.

Our LORD, judge the nations! Judge me and show that I am honest and innocent.

You are the shield that protects your people, and I am your chosen one. Won't you smile on me?

Please listen, LORD, and answer my prayer! I am poor and helpless.

Please listen, LORD! Answer my prayer for help.

I am deeply troubled and close to death;

The Lord has said: “These people praise me with their words, but they never really think about me. They worship me by repeating rules made up by humans.

And worst of all, the people of Judah pretended to come back to me.

“All of you praise me with your words, but you never really think about me.

When Jesus saw Nathanael coming towards him, he said, “Here is a true descendant of our ancestor Israel. And he isn't deceitful.”

Dear friends, if we feel at ease in the presence of God, we will have the courage to come near him.
