You defend orphans and everyone else in need, so that no one on earth can terrify others again.

For all who are ill-treated, the LORD brings justice.

But you, LORD, tell them, “I will do something! The poor are ill-treated and helpless people moan. I'll rescue all who suffer.”

He gives food to all who live. God's love never fails.

Rescue me from this prison, so I can praise your name. And when your people notice your wonderful kindness to me, they will rush to my side.

Every bone in my body will shout: “No one is like the LORD!” You protect the helpless from those in power; you save the poor and needy from those who hurt them.

You find families for those who are lonely. You set prisoners free and let them prosper, but all who rebel will live in a scorching desert.

You set your people free, and you led them through the desert.

Let the king defend the poor, rescue the homeless, and crush everyone who hurts them.

You showed what you are like, and you made certain that justice is done, but evil people are trapped by their own evil deeds.

The Spirit of the LORD God has taken control of me! The LORD has chosen and sent me to tell the oppressed the good news, to heal the brokenhearted, and to announce freedom for prisoners and captives.

You have broken the power of those who abused and enslaved your people. You have rescued them just as you saved your people from Midian.

I will bless my people with more food than they need, and the priests will enjoy the choice cuts of meat. I, the LORD, have spoken.

The LORD All-Powerful said: I'm now on my way to judge you. And I will quickly condemn all who practise witchcraft or cheat in marriage or tell lies in court or rob workers of their pay or ill-treat widows and orphans or steal the property of foreigners or refuse to respect me.

God gives the hungry good things to eat, and sends the rich away with nothing.

“The Lord's Spirit has come to me, because he has chosen me to tell the good news to the poor. The Lord has sent me to announce freedom for prisoners, to give sight to the blind, to free everyone who suffers,

Everyone ate all they wanted. What was left over filled twelve baskets.

Suddenly a strong earthquake shook the jail to its foundations. The doors opened, and the chains fell from all the prisoners.

But that night an angel from the Lord opened the doors of the jail and led the apostles out. The angel said,
