The LORD God then asked the woman, “What have you done?” “The snake tricked me,” she answered. “And I ate some of that fruit.”

I live among lions, who gobble up people! They have spears and arrows instead of teeth, and they have sharp swords instead of tongues.

Your words spread poison like the bite of a cobra

They curse and their words cut like swords, as they say to themselves, “No one can hear us!”

Sharp words cut like a sword, but words of wisdom heal.

but later it bites like a poisonous snake.

They are always thinking up something cruel and evil, and they stir up trouble.

We have rebelled and refused to follow you. Our hearts were deceitful, and so we lied; we planned to abuse others and turn our backs on you.

The LORD replied: Lies come from the mouths of my people, like arrows from a bow. With each dishonest deed their power increases, and not one of them will admit that I am God.

They wear themselves out, always looking for a new way to cheat their friends.

All day long they attack with words and whispers.

You are evil snakes, so how can you say anything good? Your words show what is in your hearts.

But now I fear that you will be tricked, just as Eve was tricked by that lying snake. I am afraid that you might stop thinking about Christ in an honest and sincere way.
