Please listen, LORD God, and answer my prayers. Make my eyes sparkle again, or else I will fall into the sleep of death.

But for now, LORD God, you have shown great kindness to us. You made us truly happy by letting some of us settle in this sacred place and by helping us in our time of slavery.

I have not forgotten your Law! Look at the trouble I am in, and rescue me.

You, the LORD God, keep my lamp burning and turn darkness to light.

Look at all my enemies! See how much they hate me.

I celebrate and shout because you are kind. You saw all my suffering, and you cared for me.

Listen, LORD, as I pray! Pay attention when I groan.

Light shows up everything, just as the Scriptures say, “Wake up from your sleep and rise from death. Then Christ will shine on you.”

And the city did not need the sun or the moon. The glory of God was shining on it, and the Lamb was its light.

Jonathan did not know about Saul's warning to the soldiers. So he dipped the end of his walking stick in the honey and ate some with his fingers. He felt stronger and more alert.

Jonathan said, “My father has caused you a lot of trouble. Look at me! I had only a little of this honey, but already I feel strong and alert.
