So the king said, “Why do you look so sad? You're not sick. Something must be bothering you.” Even though I was frightened,

Or else they will rip me apart like lions attacking a victim, and no one will save me.

Our God, how much longer will our enemies sneer? Won't they ever stop insulting you?

Remember your enemies, LORD! They foolishly sneer and won't respect you.

With praises from children and from tiny infants, you have built a fortress. It makes your enemies silent, and all who turn against you are left speechless.

Our enemies are destroyed completely for all time. Their cities are torn down, and they will never be remembered again.

Happiness makes you smile; sorrow can crush you.

Besides all this, they are always gloomy at mealtimes, and they are troubled, sick, and bitter.

I am badly injured and in constant pain. Are you going to disappoint me, like a stream that goes dry in the heat of summer?

You are moaning and blaming me, the LORD, for your troubles and sorrow, and for being so tired that you can't even rest.

I'm burdened with sorrow and feel like giving up.

Enemies now rule the city and live as they please. The LORD has punished Jerusalem because of her awful sins; he has let her people be dragged away.

Her sins had made her filthy, but she wasn't worried about what could happen. And when Jerusalem fell, it was so tragic. No one gave her comfort when she cried out, “Help! I'm in trouble, LORD! The enemy has won.”

Why have you forgotten us for so long?

and he said to them, “I am so sad that I feel as if I am dying. Stay here and keep awake with me.”

I was with you every day in the temple, and you didn't arrest me. But this is your time, and darkness is in control.”

You are very sad from hearing all this.

my heart is broken and I am in great sorrow.

In fact, he was very sick and almost died. But God was kind to him, and also to me, and he kept me from being burdened down with sorrow.

But knowing those things made Saul even more afraid of David, and he was David's enemy for the rest of his life.

If you really were my enemy, you wouldn't have let me leave here alive. I pray that the LORD will give you a big reward for what you did today.
