Our LORD, I know that you defend the homeless and see that the poor are given justice.

They refuse to show mercy, and they keep boasting.

Our LORD, we belong to you. We tell you what worries us, and you won't let us fall.

Your enemies boasted that they would pursue and capture us, divide up our possessions, treat us as they wished, then take out their swords and kill us there.

Words can bring death or life! Talk too much, and you will eat everything you say.

The pleasant talk of an enemy hides more evil plans

The gods of Jerusalem and Samaria are weaker than the gods of those powerful nations. And I will destroy Jerusalem, together with its gods and idols, just as I did Samaria.

You falsely accuse others and tell lies in court; sin and trouble are the names of your children.

Even your own family has turned against you. They act friendly, but don't trust them. They're out to get you, and so is everyone else.

They say they want peace, but this lie is deadly, like an arrow that strikes when you least expect it.

Ezekiel, son of man, tell the king of Tyre that I am saying: You are so arrogant that you think you're a god and that the city of Tyre is your throne. You may claim to be a god, though you're nothing but a mere human.

When you face your enemies, will you still claim to be a god? They will attack, and you will suffer like any other human.

that I am saying: King of Egypt, you were like a giant crocodile lying in a river. You acted as though you owned the Nile and made it for yourself. But now I, the LORD God, am your enemy!

“This king will speak evil of God Most High, and he will be cruel to God's chosen ones. He will try to change God's Law and the sacred seasons. And he will be able to do this for a time, two times, and half a time.

Just as I was thinking about these horns, a smaller horn appeared, and three of the other horns were pulled up by the roots to make room for it. This horn had the eyes of a human and a mouth that spoke with great pride.

You have said horrible things about me, and yet you ask, “What have we said?”

They boast out loud about their stupid nonsense. And by being vulgar and crude, they trap people who have barely escaped from living the wrong kind of life.

These people grumble and complain and live by their own selfish desires. They boast about themselves and flatter others to get what they want.

The beast was allowed to boast and claim to be God, and for forty-two months it was allowed to rule.

I can tell those proud people, “Stop your boasting! Nothing is hidden from the LORD, and he judges what we do.”
