I worship you with all my heart. Don't let me walk away from your commands.

You punish those boastful, worthless nobodies who turn from your commands.

Don't let anyone trick you with foolish talk. God punishes everyone who disobeys him and says foolish things.

You were told that your foolish desires will destroy you and that you must give up your old way of life with all its bad habits.

Keep me from being deceitful, and be kind enough to teach me your Law.

Lamps will no longer shine anywhere in Babylon, and couples will never again say wedding vows there. Her merchants ruled the earth, and by her witchcraft she fooled all nations.

I did not need to write to you about the truth, since you already know it. You also know that liars do not belong to the truth.

But evil people who pretend to be what they are not will become worse than ever, as they fool others and are fooled themselves.

Some of them will be killed by swords. Others will be carried off to foreign countries. Jerusalem will be overrun by foreign nations until their time comes to an end.

When I come to bring justice, you will trample those who are evil, as though they were ashes under your feet. I, the LORD All-Powerful, have spoken!

“I alone trampled the grapes! None of the nations helped. I trampled nations in my anger and stained my clothes with their blood.

How can anyone be stupid enough to trust something that can be burnt to ashes? No one can save themselves like that. Don't they realize that the idols they hold in their hands are not really gods?

The powerful arm of the LORD will protect this mountain. The Moabites will be put down and trampled on like straw in a pit of manure.

Then God got tired of them and said, “You never show good sense, and you don't understand what I want you to do.”

They were as unfaithful as their ancestors, and they were as crooked as a twisted arrow.

The pit was outside the city, and when the grapes were squashed, blood flowed out. The blood turned into a river that was about three hundred kilometres long and almost deep enough to cover a horse.

An evil mind is deceitful, but gentle thoughts bring happiness.
