Be true to your name, LORD, and keep my life safe. Use your saving power to protect me from trouble.

If you save us, it will show how great you are. Don't let our enemies disgrace your temple, your beautiful throne. Don't forget that you promised to rescue us.

But I did not. That would have disgraced me in front of the nations that had seen me bring the Israelites out of Egypt.

so you deserve to be punished. But I will treat you in a way that will bring honour to my name, and you will know that I am the LORD God.

In the Scriptures the Lord says to Pharaoh of Egypt, “I let you become king, so that I could show you my power and be praised by all people on earth.”

because he wants everyone on earth to know how powerful he is. And he wants us to worship only him.”

Everyone will think you weren't strong enough to protect your people. Now the Canaanites and everyone else who lives in the land will surround us and wipe us out.

But the LORD has chosen you to be his own people. He will always take care of you so that everyone will know how great he is.
