When Ahithophel saw that Absalom and the leaders of Israel were not going to follow his advice, he saddled his donkey and rode back to his home in Gilo. He told his family and servants what to do. Then he hanged himself, and they buried him in his family's burial place.

Their powerful legs become weak, and they stumble on schemes of their own doing.

They gang up to murder someone, but they are the victims.

If you do the right thing, honesty will be your guide. But if you are crooked, you will be trapped by your own dishonesty.

Sin cannot offer security! But if you live right, you will be as secure as a tree with deep roots.

Live right, and you are safe! But sin will destroy you.

In times of trouble the wicked are destroyed, but even at death the innocent have faith.

Being lazy is like walking in a thorn patch, but everyone who does right walks on a smooth road.

Wicked people bluff their way, but God's people think before they take a step.

Honesty will keep you safe, but everyone who is crooked will suddenly fall.

Always let him lead you, and he will clear the road for you to follow.

Sinners are trapped and caught by their own evil deeds.

Our LORD, you always do right, and you make the path smooth for those who obey you.

Israel, your pride testifies to your guilt; it makes you stumble, and Judah stumbles too.
