You will say the wrong thing if you talk too much— so be sensible and watch what you say.

It's stupid to say bad things about your neighbours. If you are sensible, you will keep quiet.

Be sensible and don't tell everything you know— only fools spread foolishness everywhere.

An honest witness tells the truth; a dishonest witness tells nothing but lies.

It's wise to be patient and show what you are like by forgiving others.

Stay away from gossips— they tell everything.

When you and someone else can't get along, don't gossip about it.

The officials did come and question me about my meeting with the king, and I told them exactly what he had ordered me to say. They never spoke to me about the meeting again, since no one had heard us talking.

Don't be a gossip, but never hesitate to speak up in court, especially if your testimony can save someone's life.

Besides, they will become lazy and get into the habit of going from house to house. Next, they will start gossiping and become busybodies, talking about things that are none of their business.

“Rahab,” the spies answered, “if you keep quiet about what we're doing, we promise to be kind to you when the LORD gives us this land. We pray that the LORD will kill us if we don't keep our promise!”
