I pray that God will make you ready to obey him and that you will always be eager to do right. May Jesus help you do what pleases God. To Jesus Christ be glory for ever and ever! Amen.

We don't have the right to claim that we have done anything on our own. God gives us what it takes to do all that we do.

God saved us and chose us to be his holy people. We did nothing to deserve this, but God planned it because he is so kind. Even before time began God planned for Christ Jesus to show kindness to us.

Everything then depends on God's mercy and not on what people want or do.

But God was kind! He made me what I am, and his wonderful kindness wasn't wasted. I worked much harder than any of the other apostles, although it was really God's kindness at work and not me.

John replied: No one can do anything unless God in heaven allows it.

God always does what he plans, and that's why he appointed Christ to choose us.

and we can each do different things. Yet the same God works in all of us and helps us in everything we do.

God chose you, and we keep praying that God will make you worthy of being his people. We pray for God's power to help you do all the good things that you hope to do and that your faith makes you want to do.

God was kind and decided that Christ would choose us to be God's own adopted children.

You were saved by faith in God, who treats us much better than we deserve. This is God's gift to you, and not anything you have done on your own.

May the LORD help us obey him and follow all the laws and teachings he gave our ancestors.

Make me want to obey you, rather than to be rich.

My little group of disciples, don't be afraid! Your Father wants to give you the kingdom.

and by what Christ has done, God has shown us his own mysterious ways.

Then Jesus said, “You cannot come to me, unless the Father makes you want to come. That is why I have told these things to all of you.”

They will be my people, and I will be their God.

Even before they were born or had done anything good or bad, the Lord told Rebekah that her elder son would serve the younger one. The Lord said this to show that he makes his own choices and that it wasn't because of anything either of them had done.

Here is the new agreement that I, the LORD, will make with the people of Israel: “I will write my laws on their hearts and minds. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

The LORD controls rulers, just as he determines the course of rivers.

Years ago the LORD sent Jeremiah with a message about a promise for the people of Israel. Then in the first year that Cyrus was king of Persia, the LORD kept his promise by telling Cyrus to send this official message to all parts of his kingdom:

Because King Artaxerxes was so kind, Ezra said: Praise the LORD God of our ancestors! He made sure that the king honoured the LORD's temple in Jerusalem.

Many people felt that the LORD God wanted them to help rebuild his temple, and they made plans to go to Jerusalem. Among them were priests, Levites, and leaders of the tribes of Judah and Benjamin.

God also made everyone in Judah eager to do what Hezekiah and his officials had commanded.

One of the prophets wrote, “God will teach all of them.” And so everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him will come to me.

You will give us peace, LORD, because everything we have done was by your power.

Don't let me want to do evil or waste my time doing wrong with wicked people. Don't let me even taste the good things they offer.

The king asked, “What do you want me to do?” I prayed to the God who rules from heaven.

Praise God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is so good, and by raising Jesus from death, he has given us new life and a hope that lives on.

The Lord's power was with them, and many people turned to the Lord and put their faith in him.

Your glorious power will be seen on the day you begin to rule. You will wear the sacred robes and shine like the morning sun in all your strength.

God gives each of us chance after chance

“Praise God in heaven! Peace on earth to everyone who pleases God.”

I realize how kind God has been to me, and so I tell each of you not to think you are better than you really are. Use good sense and measure yourself by the amount of faith that God has given you.
