After Jobab's death, Husham from the land of Teman became king.

Eliphaz from Teman, Bildad from Shuah, and Zophar from Naamah were three of Job's friends, and they heard about his troubles. So they agreed to visit Job and comfort him.

Listen to my plans for you, people of Edom. Your children will be dragged off and your country destroyed.

An enemy will swoop down to attack you, like an eagle spreading its wings and circling over Bozrah. Your warriors will be gripped by fear.

The LORD All-Powerful says about Edom: Wisdom and common sense have vanished from Teman. I will send disaster to punish you descendants of Esau, so anyone from Dedan had better turn round and run back home.

So I will punish Edom by killing all its people and livestock. It will be an empty wasteland all the way from Teman to Dedan.

Now I will send fire to wipe out the fortresses of Teman and Bozrah.

You may be brave and strong, but you will run away, stripped naked. I, the LORD, have spoken!

Those the LORD has saved will live on Mount Zion and rule over Edom. Then the kingdom will belong to the LORD.

If thieves break in at night, they steal only what they want. And people who harvest grapes always leave some unpicked. But, Edom, you are doomed!

Your army is weak. Fire has destroyed the crossbars on your city gates; now they stand wide open to your enemy.

You are the same Holy God who came from Teman and Paran to help us. The brightness of your glory covered the heavens, and your praises were heard everywhere on earth.

but don't start a war with them. I have given them the hill country of Seir, so I won't give any of it to you, not even enough to set a foot on.
