Aaron will speak to the people for you, and you will be like me, telling Aaron what to say. I will be with both of you as you speak, and I will tell each of you what to do.

We humans make plans, but the LORD has the final word.

We make our own plans, but the LORD decides where we will go.

I have told you what to say, and I will keep you safe in the palm of my hand. I spread out the heavens and laid foundations for the earth. Now I say, “Jerusalem, your people are mine.”

The LORD says: “My people, I promise to give you my Spirit and my message. These will be my gifts to you and your families for ever. I, the LORD, have spoken.”

The LORD reached out his hand, then he touched my mouth and said, “I am giving you the words to say,

That night, God said, “Balaam, I'll let you go to Moab with Balak's messengers, but do only what I say.”

“It's all right for you to go,” the LORD's angel answered. “But you must say only what I tell you.” So Balaam went on with Balak's officials.

The LORD appeared to Balaam and gave him another message, then he told him to go and tell Balak.

When God appeared to him, Balaam said, “I have built seven altars and have sacrificed a bull and a ram on each one.”

When Balaam returned, he found Balak and his officials standing beside the offerings.

At that time the Holy Spirit will tell you what to say.

Caiaphas did not say this on his own. As high priest that year, he was prophesying that Jesus would die for the nation.

So when I want to speak to them, I will choose one of them to be a prophet like you. I will give my message to that prophet, who will tell the people exactly what I have said.
