Some people hire a goldsmith and give silver and gold to be formed into an idol for them to worship.

Gilead is terribly sinful and will end up ruined. Bulls are sacrificed in Gilgal on altars made of stones, but those stones will be scattered in every field.

Finally, they reached Moabite territory, where they camped near Mount Pisgah in a valley overlooking the desert north of the Dead Sea.

Balak said to Balaam, “Let's go somewhere else. Perhaps if you see a smaller part of the Israelites, you will be able to curse them for me.”

“Wait here beside your offerings,” Balaam said. “The LORD will appear to me over there.”

Balaam said, “Build seven altars here, then bring me seven bulls and seven rams.”

Climb to the top of Mount Pisgah and look north, south, east, and west. Take a good look, but you are not going to cross the River Jordan.

Some time later, Moses left the lowlands of Moab. He went up Mount Pisgah to the peak of Mount Nebo, which is across the River Jordan from Jericho. The LORD showed him all the land as far north as Gilead and the town of Dan.

Their land included the eastern side of the Jordan valley, as far south as the Dead Sea below the slopes of Mount Pisgah.
