The price for a firstborn son who is at least one month old will be five pieces of silver, weighed according to the official standards.

Each man over nineteen, whether rich or poor, must pay me the same amount of money, weighed according to the official standards.

According to the official weights, the amount of gold given was a thousand kilogrammes,

The standard unit of weight will be the shekel. One shekel will equal twenty gerahs, and sixty shekels will equal one mina.

Every price will be set by the official standards.

The firstborn son in every Israelite family, as well as the firstborn males of their flocks and herds, belong to me. But a firstborn son and every firstborn donkey must be bought back from me.

However, all firstborn cattle, sheep, and goats belong to me and cannot be bought back. Splatter their blood on the altar and send their fat up in smoke, so I can smell it and be pleased.

But since there are more firstborn sons than Levites, the extra two hundred and seventy-three men and boys must be bought back from me.

For each one, you are to collect five pieces of silver, weighed according to the official standards.
