When the people returned to their homes, they celebrated by eating and drinking and by sharing their food with those in need, because they had understood what had been read to them.

The people were very happy, and they ate and drank there at the LORD's altar. That same day, Solomon was crowned king. The people celebrated and poured olive oil on Solomon's head to show that he would be their next king. They also poured oil on Zadok's head to show that he was their priest.

Nehemiah told the people, “Enjoy your good food and wine and share some with those who didn't have anything to bring. Don't be sad! This is a special day for the LORD, and he will make you happy and strong.”

The Levites encouraged the people by saying, “This is a sacred day, so don't worry or mourn!”

On the second day of the seventh month, the leaders of all the family groups came together with the priests and the Levites, so Ezra could teach them the Law

the days when we Jews defeated our enemies. Remember this month as a time when our sorrow was turned to joy, and celebration took the place of crying. Celebrate by having parties and by giving to the poor and by sharing gifts of food with each other.

Obeying your instructions brings as much happiness as being rich.

I will take pleasure in your laws and remember your words.

When you spoke to me, I was glad to obey, because I belong to you, the LORD All-Powerful.

They said to each other, “When he talked with us along the road and explained the Scriptures to us, didn't it warm our hearts?”

I know that my selfish desires won't let me do anything that is good. Even when I want to do right, I cannot.

Everyone on earth will celebrate and be happy. They will give gifts to each other, because of what happened to the two prophets who caused them so much trouble.
