Praise the LORD because he is good to us, and his love never fails.

Whenever these soldiers went to war against their enemies, they prayed to God and trusted him to help. That's why the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and East Manasseh defeated the Hagrites and their allies.

I pray that the LORD will listen when you are in trouble, and that the God of Jacob will keep you safe.

You are honest and merciful, and you teach sinners how to follow your path.

In times of trouble, you will protect me. You will hide me in your tent and keep me safe on top of a mighty rock.

The LORD protects his people, and they can come to him in times of trouble.

The LORD helps them and saves them from the wicked because they run to him.

And so, we won't be afraid! Let the earth tremble and the mountains tumble into the deepest sea.

Pray to me in time of trouble. I will rescue you, and you will honour me.

But I will sing about your strength, my God, and I will celebrate because of your love. You are my fortress, my place of protection in times of trouble.

Be my mighty rock, the place where I can always run for protection. Save me by your command! You are my mighty rock and my fortress.

When I am in trouble, I pray, knowing you will listen.

Everyone who honours your name can trust you, because you are faithful to all who depend on you.

When you are in trouble, call out to me. I will answer and be there to protect and honour you.

The LORD is a mighty tower where his people can run for safety—

You have been a place of safety for the poor and needy in times of trouble. Brutal enemies pounded us like a heavy rain or the heat of the sun at midday, but you were our shelter.

They will be a place of safety from stormy winds, a stream in the desert, and a rock that gives shade from the heat of the sun.

None of you respect the LORD or obey his servant. You walk in the dark instead of the light; you don't trust the name of the LORD your God.

Our LORD, you are the one who gives me strength and protects me like a fortress when I am in trouble. People will come to you from distant nations and say, “Our ancestors worshipped false and useless gods,

I trust you for protection in times of trouble, so don't frighten me.

People of Judah, the good figs stand for those of you I sent away as exiles to Babylonia,

happy voices and the sounds of parties and wedding celebrations. And when people come to my temple to offer sacrifices to thank me, you will hear them say: “We praise you, LORD All-Powerful! You are good to us, and your love never fails.” The land will once again be productive.

The LORD is kind to everyone who trusts and obeys him.

King Nebuchadnezzar said: Praise their God for sending an angel to rescue his servants! They trusted their God and refused to obey my commands. Yes, they chose to die rather than to worship or serve any god except their own.

The king was relieved to hear Daniel's voice, and he gave orders for him to be taken out of the pit. Daniel's faith in his God had kept him from being harmed.

Now you see both how kind and how hard God can be. He was hard on those who fell, but he was kind to you. And he will keep on being kind to you, if you keep on trusting in his kindness. Otherwise, you will be cut away too.

But now you know God, or better still, God knows you. How can you turn back and become the slaves of those weak and pitiful powers?

But the foundation that God has laid is solid. On it is written, “The Lord knows who his people are. So everyone who worships the Lord must turn away from evil.”
