You, my enemies, said, “The LORD God is helpless.” Now each of you will be disgraced and put to shame. I will see you trampled like mud in the street.

You will cover them with shame, just as their bodies are covered with clothes.

Why should the nations ask, “Where is your God?”

Disappoint and confuse all who are glad to see me in trouble, but disgrace and embarrass my proud enemies who say to me, “You are nothing!”

Even my bones are in pain, while all day long my enemies sneer and ask, “Where is your God?”

Day and night my tears are my only food, as everyone keeps asking, “Where is your God?”

Good people will be glad when they see the wicked getting what they deserve, and they will wash their feet in their enemies' blood.

Why should nations ask us, “Where is your God?” Let us and the other nations see you take revenge for your servants who died a violent death.

Good people will prosper like palm trees, and they will grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon.

Your hand is raised and ready to punish them, but they don't see it. Put them to shame! Show how much you care for us and throw them into the fire intended for your enemies.

I, the LORD, appointed a ruler in the north; now he comes from the east to honour my name. He tramples kings like mud, as potters trample clay.

Your nation will be small, yet hated by other nations.

But now, my people will watch, while I repay you for what you did to Zion.

You feel ashamed and disgraced, because foreigners have entered my sacred temple.

You will put on sackcloth to show your sorrow, but terror will overpower you. Shame will be written all over your faces, and you will shave your heads in despair.

Now I am going to give you one more chance. If you bow down and worship the statue when you hear the music, everything will be all right. But if you don't, you will at once be thrown into a flaming furnace. No god can save you from me.”

Tell my servants, the priests, to cry inside the temple and to offer this prayer near the altar: “Save your people, LORD God! Don't let foreign nations make jokes about us. Don't let them laugh and ask, ‘Where is your God?’ ”

You were cruel to your relatives, the descendants of Jacob. Now you will be destroyed, disgraced for ever.

Why did you celebrate when such a dreadful disaster struck your relatives? Why were you so pleased when everyone in Judah was suffering?

Zion, because of your sins you are surrounded by many nations who say, “We can hardly wait to see you disgraced.”

My enemies, don't be glad because of my troubles! I may have fallen, but I will get up; I may be sitting in the dark, but the LORD is my light.

Zion, your punishment is over. The LORD has forced your enemies to turn and retreat. Your LORD is King of Israel and stands at your side; you don't have to worry about any more troubles.

They will join in the fighting, and together they will trample their enemies like mud. They will fight, because I, the LORD, will be on their side. And they will crush the enemy cavalry.

Israel, when you see this, you will shout, “The LORD's great reputation reaches beyond our borders.”

When I come to bring justice, you will trample those who are evil, as though they were ashes under your feet. I, the LORD All-Powerful, have spoken!

He trusted God, so let God save him, if he wants to. He even said he was God's Son.”

Everyone will think you weren't strong enough to protect your people. Now the Canaanites and everyone else who lives in the land will surround us and wipe us out.

The heavens should be happy with God's people and apostles and prophets. God has punished her for them.”
